This summer I attended the Ross Summer Business Academy at the University of Michigan. Our cohort was tasked with coming up with ways to increase Gen Z attendance at the Michigan & State Theater. My team and I came up with a Student Film Showcase where students at the University of Michigan could premiere their films and bring friends, family, and professors – new faces – to the theater, and also introduced the idea of a Gen Z Marketing Intern. Throughout the project, we were able to apply lessons learned from Professor Gao about Strategy and performing a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats); we were able to predict future revenue and future value gained with our solutions for Michigan & State Theater by applying lessons from Professor Kim; we were able to integrate marketing strategies into our solution by learning about successful marketing and identifying the underlying need for one’s consumer taught by Professor Tasoluk. The ability to take what we had learned during our lectures and apply that to a real world challenge was really thrilling. I had a wonderful time at the Ross Summer Business Academy!
