My Summer Internship at Love Serving Autism
Updated: 2 days ago
Spending my summer interning at Love Serving Autism (LSA) was an invaluable experience. I worked on a variety of projects that combined marketing, research, community outreach, and hands-on experience at the therapeutic tennis camp. This balance gave me the chance to see both the behind-the-scenes work that keeps a nonprofit running and the direct impact it has on the kids and families it serves.
Throughout my internship, I designed flyers and created QR codes to make clinic registrations, sponsorship forms, and gala donations more efficient. I researched grant opportunities and sourced occupational, physical, and speech therapists to help expand LSA’s reach. I also conducted sponsorship outreach, both in person and online, soliciting donations and auction items for the upcoming Match Point Gala.
Equally meaningful were the days I spent on the court and in classrooms at LSA’s therapeutic tennis camp. Working alongside coaches, therapists, and nutritionists, I helped support the kids through racquet sports, speech therapy, and nutrition activities. Seeing firsthand the joy and progress of the campers gave me a deeper appreciation for the marketing and operations projects I had worked on behind the scenes.
This internship also taught me valuable soft skills, such as learning to communicate with a variety of stakeholders, tailoring my tone for different audiences, collaborating across teams, and approaching businesses with professionalism and confidence. On the technical side, I built my skills in Canva, Google Sheets, and Qgiv while learning to develop efficient systems that the organization can continue to use after my internship.
